Try Canoeing

This 2-hour program provides an opportunity for someone with absolutely no previous canoeing experience to give this activity a try under the watchful eye of an American Canoe Association (ACA) Certified Instructor.  There will be a brief tutorial on basic canoe strokes and safety, but the emphasis is on just getting out to paddle so that participants can decide if this is an activity that they would enjoy doing more of in the future.  For a more comprehensive instructional experience, the “Canoe Basics” course is recommended.

Fee:   $55/person  (includes canoe, paddle, life jacket)

Canoe Basics

Canoeing can be a lot of fun, but without instruction, it can also be extremely frustrating for many people.  Whether you are interested in primarily solo or tandem canoeing, learn how to make your canoe go where you want it to.  Learning to paddle efficiently will make your canoe trips more enjoyable and less tiring.  It can also save relationships on the water.  Canoe Basics is a 2.5-hour introductory class that will cover basic strokes and safety focusing on skill development and knowledge.  You may be encouraged to try a controlled capsize and assisted re-entry if time and weather permit, but this is not a mandatory part of the course.
